There are no memories as lasting as those of Thanksgivings past. Reflect on those wonderful days when you were surrounded by family and friends, Grandpa snoozing on the sofa, the kids playing in the yard and those mouth watering aromas…so enticing.

These memories remind us all to take some time to slow down and enjoy life with those closest to us.  Naturally, we also look forward to that plump golden browned turkey sizzling in the oven and mashed potatoes, fresh corn, sweet potato pie, cranberry sauce and Grandmas thick rich gravy all steaming on the table. Then, best of all, pumpkin pie fresh from the oven smothered in fresh whipped cream. What a spread!

And Ruidoso offers the perfect destination for the special time that is Thanksgiving. The weather in November is fantastic with cool evenings and bright days. And the winter-scape is breathtaking with Mount Sierra Blanca towering over the Village with its white capped peak and rolling foothills. Ski Apache and the tubing park open on Thanksgiving for some early winter fun as the Village takes on the promise of more snow and cool days.

Don’t worry about cooking either as many of Ruidoso’s restaurants are open for the Holiday letting Mom take a day off from the kitchen.

The feeling in the Village at Thanksgiving offers hints that the Jolly Olde’ Elf is already preparing for his big night.  And the shops are already brightly lit with the upcoming Festival of Lights decorations brightening  Ruidoso’s Midtown … a Mecca of unique gifts, offering shoppers a head start on Christmas.

As the streets in the Village are all a-bustle with folks running to and fro picking up those last minute items for the grand feast there is a sense that Ruidoso is the perfect place to be as we celebrate all that we have to be thankful for.
