Inn of the Mountain Gods (New Beginnings)
by Chuck Duncan

If you haven’t heard yet, the opening of the brand new Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino occurred this past March. It’s exciting that Ruidoso’s neighbor, the Mescalero Apache Nation, has completed construction of their beautiful, full-service resort. In designing the building, the Mescaleros were careful to embrace the feel of the Mountains, and the mystery of their Apache heritage. Walking through the entrance, you’re awed by the massive windows that fill with a breathtaking view of Mount Sierra Blanca.
And the walls are filled with wonderful Native American artwork providing a peaceful overall sense of elegance…
New Mexico style of course.
The new Inn was designed with 38,000 square feet of Las Vegas-style gaming, 273 well-appointed luxury rooms and suites, fine dining, 40,000 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool, and a fully equipped workout facility. And that’s just for starters.

You can enjoy live entertainment and choose from a variety of places to dine. Wendell’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant features world-class cuisine including Kobe beef steaks, Lobster tacos as well as an extensive wine list. The Gathering of Nations Buffet has your favorite tastes from around the world. The “Apache Summit BBQ Company” is located behind the first tee on the golf course and offers the most excellent food, libation and atmosphere you’ll ever enjoy in the Southwest. Or you can kick it up in the Nighclub, watch the game in the Big Game Sports Bar, or just curl up with a book and watch a famous New Mexico sunset in a quiet Lounge and Piano Bar.

This place offers all the accoutrements expected of a first-class resort hotel.

In addition, the Inn’s Championship golf course is one of the best in the state and has recently seen expansion to accommodate tour play. Big game hunts, bird hunts and sporting clays are also available as part of the resort experience. And next winter promises even more upgrades at Ski Apache!

Plan a visit to the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino for their Spectacular July 4th Fire Works Display and take in some of the Southwest’s most gracious hospitality.
