Flying J Ranch
Western Stage Show and Chuck Wagon Supper

Written by Chuck Duncan • Photography by Mickey Cochran

Ruidoso is one of the only places this side of Austin, Texas where you can enjoy three live theater shows and each one them different. One of the local favorites, and fun for the entire family, is the Flying “J” Ranch Western Stage Show. The Flying “J” Ranch is home to the world travelin’ Flying “J” Wranglers and their old west stage show. It is also home to the best darned Chuck Wagon dinner since they quit drivin’ cattle on the Chisholm Trail. There’s also pony rides for the little ones, gold pannin’ and an old fashioned western mercantile with great Ruidoso souvenirs all guaranteeing a great evening of entertainment!

The Flying “J” is dinner theater New Mexico style with a real live shoot out at sundown on main street between the Flying “J” Sheriff and a couple of real inept desperados.

This gets so funny your horse will laugh. After the last shot is fired everybody gets invited to dinner, which is a good thing because all the while the aromas of the Flying “J” Ranch “cattle trail” cookin’ will make you hungrier than a crew of cowpokes. But, don’t worry, there’s plenty of grub and you can even get seconds! After dinner, the Wranglers come around with real Cowboy coffee to go with your cobbler, and if you didn’t realize that this experience is as real as it gets, the first sip of that brew will bring you 'round quick like.
After folks have all settled down the Wranglers hit the stage and put on one heck of a show. These folks can sing, fiddle, pick and yodel like nobody’s business and the strummin’ and grinnin’ carries on into the night. Old-time fiddle playing, yodelin’, banjo and mandolin playing and some virtuoso guitar make the Wranglers the southwest’s favorite sons and daughters. So come on over and visit with the good folks next time you're in town, you’ll be glad you did….
and that’s a guarantee pardner!

The Flying “J” Ranch opens the end of May and runs through Mid October.
