Don’t Miss Ruidoso’s Annual “Parade Of Lights”

This year’s fourth annual “Parade of Lights” promises to be the best yet. Incredibly designed floats, marching bands, antique cars, fire trucks, police cars, horses, cowboys, wagons and more all draped in thousands of colored lights illuminating Ruidoso’s quaint Mid Town. It is a truly magical New Mexican winter’s night and there’s no better place from which to venture out and enjoy the show than the newly constructed Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casiono. Located just 10 minutes from the parade route in Ruidoso, The Inn, without contest, is the Ruidoso area’s best place to stay.
Last years parade had over 50 spectacular entries and this year’s entrants already exceed this number. Indeed, thousands of locals and visitors enjoyed a show that has become a much-anticipated tradition and the shining, smiling faces of the children lining the parade route capture the essence of this special night.
Coveted trophies are awarded each year to inspire the creativity of the entrants including awards for Best of Parade, Chairman’s Award, Judge’s Choice, Best Music and Most Creative. If you’re looking to get away for a couple of days to Christmas shop, get in a little skiing or simply catch your breath before the holidays, the Festival of Lights Parade weekend offers a marvelous respite.
… And don’t forget, The Charlie Daniels Band will rev up at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Friday December 9th at 8:00 PM as well.
During the afternoon, before the parade, the Festival kicks off with the “Holiday In The Park” at the Ruidoso Village Park with rides and games, food and hot chocolate and photos with Santa. This is a great time for the kids and we hope everyone comes up to share in the holiday season with us.
